Each December, the Department of Health Restoration & Care Systems Management in the School of Nursing awards the Nancy J. Girard Honorary Chair in Acute Care Nursing. This award recognizes excellence in leadership and pioneer spirit. This annual award started in 2007 and bears the name of the first chair of the department.
We are pleased to announce the 2013 recipient is Clinical Associate Professor Jennie Shaw, MSN, RN, CNE. Jennie was nominated by Vicky Dittmar, Clinical Assistant Professor/VA Partner and Judy Maltas, Clinical Associate Professor/Distinguished Teaching Professor.
Jennie’s contributions include major leadership roles in curriculum transformation, serving as a CCNE site visitor, preparing the self-study for successful CCNE accreditation, and leading the innovative Dedicated Education Unit initiative. The DEU initiative is highly respected, spreading, and resulting in Lead Teacher enrollment in MSN education. Sincere congratulations are extended, once again, to Ms. Shaw, on being selected by her colleagues to receive this award.
