Prerequisite Courses

BSN Prerequisite Course Criteria

Prior to attending UT Health San Antonio, all BSN students must complete a set of prerequisite courses at a regionally accredited institution of their choice. This list of pre-requisite courses includes program-specific classes as well as general education courses covered by the Texas General Education Core Curriculum.

Applicants must complete all required math and science courses in bold below prior to applying. Applicants may apply while lacking up to 9 hours of non-math and science courses; however, if admitted, they must complete any lacking hours prior to enrolling.

All courses are subject to approval by the School of Nursing when the applicant applies for admission. Additionally, applicants must receive a grade of "C" or higher in all required courses and all courses must meet the minimum semester credit hours listed.

Course Evaluations

Students who took college courses in Texas are encouraged to use the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) to find equivalent courses: www.tccns.org. Formal transcript evaluations are generally not performed for students who are only concerned about transferring credits from public Texas institutions.

If you have attended a college or university that is not listed on the TCCNS website, you can ask the Office of Admissions & Student Support to perform a course evaluation by filling out an inquiry form. For an unofficial transcript evaluation, please include a transcript from each college you have attended.
