Research
Awards
One of the purposes of Sigma Theta Tau International is to
encourage professional nursing scholarship. Toward that end, Delta
Alpha Chapter offers to its members financial support for conducting
nursing research.
Deadline: April 1 and November 1.
Amount of Award:
The
maximum award is $3,000 ($2,000 for Doctoral Students and $500 for
Thesis Students). The amount of each award is based upon:
- the amount of
chapter funds available
- the number of
proposals that meet the criteria for funding
- the
appropriateness of the budget submitted
Eligibility:
The
Principal Investigator (PI) on the study must hold current
membership in Delta Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
Investigators may receive more than one award; however, priority
will be given to investigators not previously funded.

An
updated Grant Application Guidelines and Grant
Application Forms may be obtained from this website or
from the Office of Nursing Research (ONR), The University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio.
The
criteria for completion of the application are found in the
packet.
Completed application forms should be returned
electronically to Bina Prakash, Prakash@uthscsa.edu, in the Research
Office, UTHSCSA-SON no later than 4:30 PM on the date of the
deadline.
Special Awards:
A
separate award is available for students conducting research leading
to the MS degree in nursing. Two awards are available annually up to
$500 each. Students must document in the submission packet that the
proposal has been approved by the institution’s supervising
committee. The applicant’s proposals will be evaluated using the
same criteria as used with general applicants, but will not be
included in that competitive ‘pool’.
