If so, a certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
will give you this education.
This focus pulls together the content from core courses in physiology, pathophysiology,
pharmacotherapeutics and health assessment as a foundation for advanced practice.
The roles of the nurse in advanced practice are experienced through patient care
management in outpatient and inpatient facilities and private practice settings.
You will acquire advanced knowledge and clinical skills enabling you to provide
quality comprehensive care to clients across the lifespan. Extensive course work
and practicum will prepare you to focus on the range of mental health care needs
of individuals and families.
Above courses required for a total of 50 semester
hours. In the post-MSN option, each applicant is evaluated individually.
Graduates are eligible for national certification and recognition by the Board of
Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
