Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

In the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner major you will acquire advanced knowledge and clinical skills enabling you to provide quality comprehensive care to the adult population from late adolescent to the older adult, across the continuum of care settings that require frequent monitoring and intervention. Extensive coursework and practicum will focus on the full spectrum of the young adult-older adult care. It will provide the opportunity to focus on the differing and unique developmental, life-stage needs that impact the patient's care across the entire adult age spectrum, particularly those with acute care needs. The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP can diagnose, treat illness, conduct physical examinations, order diagnostic tests and prescribe medications under the delegation from a supervising physician within a defined scope of practice, with appropriate referral to specialists when indicated.
