Welcome to the Graduate Nursing Program at the University of Texas Health Science
Center at San Antonio School of Nursing! As a part of the only Tier 1 research university
in South Texas, our faculty and staff seek students with educational prowess as

Masters Level Options
The Alternate Entry Masters Degree for ADN / Diploma RNs is designed for students
to complete their Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree while pursuing graduate
level education. Students admitted into this program complete the requirements of
the BSN degree and focus their Master’s degree coursework in one of five majors:
Administrative Management, Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL),Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is a traditional program for students who
have a BSN degree. Available majors are: (1) Administrative Management, (2) Clinical Nurse
Leader (CNL), (3) Family Nurse Practitioner, (4) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and (5) Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
A Post-MSN Certificate option is available for MSN students desiring a Nurse Practitioner
specialization in Family, Pediatric, or Psychiatric Mental Health.
Doctoral Level Option
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing program is a research-based doctoral degree
which prepares students for careers as a clinical nurse scientist and faculty. Students
can enter at the Post-BSN or Post-MSN level.
