COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is a survey course of physical, psychological, and social perspectives of aging with emphasis on health and healthcare of older adults. The impact of an aging society on socio-economic, political, and healthcare systems will be explored.

CREDIT AND TIME ALLOCATION
3 semester hours (2 didactic, 1 clinical).

PREREQUISITES
Students with undergraduate or graduate standing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Evaluate theories of aging for their relevance to a variety of professional disciplines.
2. Examine the impact of socio-cultural and economic factors on the health of elders.
3. Evaluate social, health and financial programs for elders.
4. Examine the life histories of elders to evaluate the relationship between social, health and economic factors and    health economic factors and health status. Synthesize relevant literature to examine aspects of aging and its impact on society.

CLINICAL OBJECTIVES
1. Develop approaches to improve the social, financial, and health conditions of elders.

SCHOLASTIC DISHONESTY
