Flexible Process Course Progression
(EM’s)

The Early Master’s Program allows an RN student the opportunity to progress through the Flexible Process Baccalaureate portion of their overall program at an accelerated rate. They are exempt from taking the 3 credit hour Issues and Ethics course in the Third Semester of Flex and from the undergraduate requirement for 8 credit hours of electives.

Helpful Facts about the Flexible Process Program for EM ’s:

The Flexible Process Program is based in the principles of adult learning theory. We work with students as individuals to make their educational experiences with us meaningful to them and to offer an environment that allows for collegial relationships to form and flourish. All of the required courses offer the student an opportunity to obtain test-out credit for the course through examination and written assignments.

Several courses in the program are Web enhanced so that in-class time is balanced with student work online. WebCT is the program we use for this. Software that will support this program and other required course work is available at a very significant discount at the University Bookstore to students in the program.

Clinical activities in both second semester clinical courses and in the third semester family course are arranged between the RN student and faculty individually. Thus they are designed to give the student flexibility in their schedule and the opportunity to identify where they wish to work on their clinical objectives. Students may chose to do their clinical work for the program where they work professionally or where they would like to be when they graduate.
