NURS 4214 The Nurse as Professional: Research
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The role of research in the conduct of professional nursing is examined. Classroom discussions and learning experiences focus on the value of research based knowledge as a means to promote quality patient care. The research process provides content for evaluating quality and/or usefulness of research utilization/evidence based practice in development of nursing intervention strategies.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Employ research findings to customize application of the nursing process.
- Apply the steps in the research process to support customized therapeutic care to promote, protect, and restore health for patients.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in evaluating the usefulness of research studies in clinical practice.
- Describe the role of research on the practice of professional nursing practice.
- Describe the role of the professional nurse in knowledge generation.
- Discuss the role of nurses in the ethical and legal conduct of research.
- Incorporate research/nursing science into continuing professional development
