Nursing Alumni Relations

LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE AWARD
FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

At each graduation ceremony, the Alumni Association presents a “Leadership and Service Award” to a graduating student from each of the following: the generic process track, the flexible process track, and the graduate program. The selection is based on nominations from the student body in each of the graduating groups. It is mandatory that each nomination be supported with an explanation of the nominee’s qualifications. The School of Nursing Advisory Council will select recipients of this award. Awards will be presented at each graduation ceremony.

Eligible candidates are students who are scheduled to complete the requirements for graduation and who strongly and sincerely meet at least one (1) of the following criteria:

  1. Support of the School of Nursing through active participation in school –related activities, e.g. fundraising events, tutoring, peer advising, or school committees. 
  1. Leadership position and/or active participation in student organizations (SBO), Graduate Nursing Association, National Student Nurses Association.
  1. Represent the School of Nursing in volunteer services with community organizations, e.g., American Heart Association, American Red Cross, and American Cancer Society.
  1. Representation of School of Nursing in volunteer services in the community through individual  or informal group effort, e.g., feeding the homeless, etc
  1. Has been a mentor to you, or supported you during your time here.From your program/class nominate a peer who meets any one of the above criteria and submit the name. It is essential that you include details that you feel qualify your nominee. Nominations will not be considered without accompanying comments or documentation.

The School of Nursing Alumni Advisory Council will review all comments and recommendations during the selection process, but will limit themselves to information submitted.
