Description of facility
The Clinical Skill Lab (CSL) is a state-of-the-art learning center that provides the students the opportunity to develop psychomotor skills and critical-thinking through teamwork and individual practice scenarios. The Director of the CSL along with a staff 12 Assistant Instructors work hand-in-hand with the nursing faculty from each department to coordinate activities and support the curriculum.
The Assistant Instructors use both traditional teaching methods and simulated reality strategies to guide the students from beginner to competent levels of practice. Low fidelity task trainers ranging up to high-fidelity human simulators are integrated into the learning environment to prepare students for real-life situations. Teamwork and patient safety competencies are threaded into the course specific skills taught each semester. Fourth semester students work through crisis situations designed to evaluate their communication, decision-making, and nursing process skills.
