The Department of Chronic Nursing Care is one of three nursing departments within the School of Nursing. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has 5 schools: Nursing, Medical, Dental, Allied Health, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. This is a dynamic interdisciplinary Health Science Center.

The Department of Chronic Nursing Care supports faculty teaching excellence, scholarship, addressing basic and RN/LVN  to BSN student education, and health disparities in chronic illness, particularly diabetes and aging within community settings. The Department Chair and faculty are supported by four staff, which includes an Administrative Assistant, two Administrative Secretaries, and one Accounting Coordinator.
