Red Star Bullet PointWhat Support Can I Get?

Content Learning Support: Specific course questions concerning the content should be addressed directly to the Course Coordinator or assigned instructor. If there is a lot of interaction (using disucssion boards, presentations, e-mail), then the coordinator will have already made allowances for supporting these features. Be sure to ask your instructor how he/she wants you to contact them for questions (example: Blackboard mail or UTHSCSA email).

Technical Support: A UTHSCSA School of Nursing Contact List has been provided at the beginning of this packet. It is important that connection issues with Internet Service Providers, different types of hardware, and software configurations are dealt with in the appropriate way.

Be prepared to provide information on:
  • Computer CPU type and speed
  • Available RAM
  • Hard disk storage space
  • Modem type and speed
  • Internet Service Provider
  • Operating system
  • Type and version of browser
  • Type and version of e-mail
  • Contact phone number
Some of the more common problems that occur are:
  • Not a 32-bit operating system
  • Not enough RAM
  • Not enough hard disk storage space
  • Unsupported Browser Versions
  • Incorrect proxy settings
  • Incorrect cache settings
  • Incorrect POP mail settings
  • Slow or faulty ISP connections
  • Slow or congested server
  • Improper use of navigation
  • Multiple browsers open at the same time
  • Impatience with connection speed

As you study more online modules you may find that your expertise becomes the support for new students.
