  • The computer lab is for nursing student use. These 25 computers have CD-R/W drives. Additional computers may be found in the CRC, Student Computer Testing room and UTHSCSA Briscoe library.
  • There are computer assisted instruction programs loaded onto the computers and other Microsoft office software (Word, Access, Power Point, Excel, etc.) for nursing student’s use.
  • The Internet browser here is Microsoft Internet Explorer and it defaults to our UTHSCSA Web Page. Students may then select the search engine of their choice to do searches or log into the Briscoe library and use the services there.
  • Students may check their e-mail from any of the machines.
  • The room is equipped with computers and both a Black & White and Color printer. There is a charge set by the Briscoe library for printing.
  • Students may save their work to disk or CD from any computer in the room or e-mail items to their own e-mail accounts from these computers. Students must supply their own Floppy disk or CD for saving work not printed or e-mailed. These items are available for purchase in the bookstore and at many stores locally. Students are reminded not to save their work to the C: drive (hard drive) and leave the room because this is available to any other student. The computers are maintained daily and unauthorized documents or software will be deleted.
  • The computers run virus scan programs to help ensure our systems remain virus and worm free. Students who experience difficulty in using the printers, CD or Floppy disks in the room should contact the CRC staff for assistance immediately.
  • The computer lab is under 24-hour camera surveillance for the safety of our students and the expensive equipment.
  • Students must adhere to all UTHSCSA, Federal and State policies and procedures related to computer and Internet use while using any CRC computers. Student violations of any related policies and procedures will be processed according to the appropriate University, State or Federal procedures. (Refer to student handbook).
