Credit By Exam (CBE) - Policies & Procedures
- Computer & Software Compatibility
- Must have supported computer hardware and software with School of Nursing (SON) and Blackboard (BB):

- JAVA: Must have the right Java which is version 1.6
Java Security Certificate – After logging in to the Blackboard Learning System, you may be prompted to accept a Java Security Certificate. You must click YES or ALWAYS to ensure that Learning System functionality using Java will work properly in your browser.

- Virus Protection: The software can be obtained from the SON Help Desk 210-567-0680 if you are in the SAT area. Otherwise, you need to get the most updated version and recommended version which is Symantec Anti-Virus 10.1.5
- Pop-up Blockers disabled while in BB.
The Blackboard Learning System sometimes uses small browser windows to deliver requested content. Some pop-up blockers incorrectly interpret these small windows as pop-ups and block them. If you have installed a pop-up blocker, turn it off while using the Learning System.
- Must have successfully perform a Blackboard compatibility and requirement checks prior to log-in:

- Browser Check:
Before Logging in, it is highly recommended that you perform a browser check to see if your computer is properly configured to use the Blackboard Learning System.
- Go to https://webct6.uthscsa.edu
- Click on the Log-in button
- To the right of the Log In box, click on the “Check Browser” button.
- If you receive all green checkmarks, then proceed to log-in.
- If you get any red Xs please contact the SON Help Desk 567-0680 for assistance.
- Account Access
- Student(s) must have an active UTHSCSA Domain Account (such as email) barring any holds. (Holds can disable access and make it hard for IT to resolve such issues).
- If a student does not have an account, they will need to contact the registrar at 210-567-2668
- Faculty must submit a ticket request and send the student name(s), UTHSCSA email(s) and which course(s) for the scheduled CBE(s) to sonwebadmin@uthscsa.edu with ample time to set-up and verify BB account(s).
- Once accounts are established, faculty will notify student(s).
- Student(s) must be able to log in successfully at least 2 hours before exam.
- Security issues
- Proctor Password for the exam must only be given to the proctor and not the student. When the student accesses the exam, the proctor needs to type in the password.
