The Department of Acute Nursing Care is one of three nursing departments within the School of Nursing, which is one of the schools of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The other schools are the Medical, Dental, Allied Health, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. This dynamic and growing campus give students the opportunity to grow at every level of education.

The Department of Acute Nursing supports faculty teaching in the areas of Medical-Surgical and Acute Care Nursing, and in Leadership and Administration. The department is responsible for four undergraduate, fourteen masters, and four doctoral program courses. The Department Chair and faculty are supported by four staff which includes an Administrator, an Administrative Assistant, an Administrative Secretary, and a Senior Secretary. The department newsletter is The Acute Pulse.
