Mays Cancer Center, School of Nursing hire chief nursing officer
Jeremy Viles, D.N.P., M.B.A., RN, has been hired in a new dual role at UT Health San Antonio. He will serve as the inaugural chief nursing officer for the Mays Cancer Center, the newly named center of UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, and as assistant dean of the clinical practice in the UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing.

A partnership between Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and UT Health San Antonio will offer a new certificate nursing program to address the severe shortage of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in South Texas.

Nursing faculty Dr. Pickering receives Rising STAR Award
Dr. Pickering, who came to UT Health San Antonio in 2016 from Michigan State University College of Nursing, has worked extensively in the area of geriatrics. She has published 13 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, including The Gerontologist, which is the 3rd highest ranked journal in the field of gerontology and the International Journal of Nursing Studies, which is the top ranked journal in nursing.
